About

i am...

a woman
a mother
a daughter
a sister
a friend
a profile
a statistic
a patient
a loner
a survivor
a face in the crowd
a superhero in disguise
a princess
a dreamer

an author

to everything
turn, turn, turn,
there is a season
turn, turn, turn,
and a time for every purpose

under heaven

imagine all the people

living life in peace
you may say i'm a dreamer
but i'm not the only one
i hope someday you'll join us
and the world will be as one

i won't explain
or say i'm sorry
i'm unashamed
i'm gonna show my scar

Image
protect the skin you're in
skin cancer awareness

you’ll never get me alive
you’ll never take me alive
do what it takes to survive

and I’m still here

a note to my friends and readers from me:

Immersing yourself in a creative outlet, whether it's music, art, or writing, is one of the greatest, most rewarding, most elating, drug-free escapes of all time. You can find your sense of self-worth in doing so. So, if you find your niche in any creative outlet, take it and just run with it. Life is too short to not express yourself. And a closed mind is a true tragedy in this world today.

quotes:

"life is full of changes;
it's how you react to those changes that give you character"

- me

"for it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart;
it was not my lips you kissed, but my soul"

"for beautiful eyes, look for the good in others;
for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness;
and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone”

- audrey hepburn

"creativity has got to start with humanity;
and when you're a human being, you feel, you suffer"

- marilyn monroe

"no two people on earth are alike,
and it's got to be that way in music or it isn't music"

- billie holiday

"just don't give up on trying to do what you really want to do;
where there is love and inspiration, I don't think you can go wrong"

- ella fitzgerald

"character cannot be developed in ease and quiet;
only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened,
ambition inspired, and success achieved"

my favorite gerard way quotes:
Image

(on fans and what it takes to be "The Black Parade" - at Big Day Out in NZ, January, 2007)
"I think, honestly, I think it takes a lot of courage, and, to really want to live your life how you want. I think self-expression is one of our biggest things. I think we've, really if anything, helped a lot of people come out of their shells and be really creative and be really proud of who they are instead of ashamed."
Really, Gerard? You think? ;)

(On writing The Umbrella Academy and his friendship with Grant Morrison - not sure what comic book site, but an interview. Sorry!)
"He (Grant) had convinced me that I had the ability as a storyteller to connect with people already, said I had already been doing it for years. So just keep doing what I was doing. Also to be fearless, which is what I think of when I think of his work. He also constantly reminds me that I am on this great adventure because of my work and my lifestyle, and to never forget that. He is always pushing me to get the most out of it. I have heard many writers say that writing is like working a muscle—you have to use your muscle every day. Grant's said this to me, and he's correct."

(On writer's block; 7/24/07, Seattle, WA @ The Ends beach house radio show.)
"I never get writer's block. I kinda have, like, almost too much in my head..like, way too much...and it's like, hard to sleep at night. It's a constant kind of struggle."

I can very much relate to this last one. My advice to anyone else who feels the same; Notebooks. Lots and lots of notebooks. Notebooks in the car. Notebooks by your bed. Notebooks on your desk at work or school. The good kind, with pockets to keep extra stuff.
