Lover. Dreamer. Liar.
I’m LEILA.
When I'm bored, I make flyers for imaginary bands playing imaginary venues and post them around my neighborhood.
(Okay, fine, not really. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.)
I live for rainy days, random trivia facts,
brief and bright moments of childish inhibition, and writing.
I love old school typewriters with circular keys,
Victrolas, gelato, ships in bottles, carnivals, and British people.
I don’t like chocolate lollipops, coffee, goodbyes, or when people use the word ‘interesting’.
Actually, I think the word ‘interesting’ should only be used in two instances - when it's meant sincerely, or when the situation is simply too awkward for any other word.
I have strange ideas sometimes.
I serve my sarcasm straight and on the rocks.
If I think you're cool, I'll tell you so.
I have made up my own funny little religion based on what I've been through,
but saying I'm agnostic works too, and is a lot simpler.
I'm straight, but I'd be about a 1 on the Kinsey Scale.
And I thought being bisexual was neat literally years it became some trend.
I have lots of different mental disorders,
but they manifest themselves at different times and to different stimuli.
Too bad. None of them involve hallucinating.
I think hallucinations are like the coolest things ever.
But I have asian powers too. So think twice. :P
I'm drawn to pretty words, pretty pictures, and pretty voices.
I think every genre of music has something worthwhile to offer.
I listen to bands and artists hardly anyone my age listen to.
My big four, though, my inspirations for so many things in both writing and life, are -
Death Cab for Cutie
Bright Eyes
The Hush Sound
Regina Spektor
They're all I really need to begin, to middle, and to end.
Other bands/artists I like, though, are:
The Arcade Fire
Augustana
The Beatles
Coldplay
The Cure
The Decemberists
Dido
Feist
The Fray
Imogen Heap
The Killers
Nada Surf
Neutral Milk Hotel
The Postal Service
Sarah McLachlan
Secondhand Serenade
The Shins
Tilly and the Wall
&alwaysmore...
I like to talk in poetry and riddles,
and I contradict myself on an hourly basis.
I've given up on "living each day to the fullest";
I don't even know what the hell that means anymore.
I've given up on trying to figure out the meaning of life -
actually, I never gave that much of a fuck to begin with.
Benjamin Franklin is indeed crispy crispy. :]
BULLETIN BOARD
Personal announcements, pitching others' work, etc.
Yes. So read Bridgesmademyday's stuff. This girl is fantastic, her writing is so perceptive, and the emotion in it hits you like an arrow. And she doesn't get nearly enough people reading her stuff.
Okay, so NaNoWriMo is officially over. 39,708 out of 50,000 words. So I didn't win, but that's okay. There's always next year. Always. Which means, yes, even after I'm dead, I will participate in NaNo from beyond the grave.
Story news in general -
definitely updates soon on my stories, since I'm still in my NaNo frantic-writing mindset.
very likely I will post a few vignettes from my NaNovel, once I've edited them.
probably a songfic I started a while ago and abandoned. (If you're very curious, the song is Arienette by Bright Eyes.)
maybe a few one-shots from my quizilla years. edited, of course.
