About
"We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true."
Robert Wilensky, speech at a 1996 conference
E.E. Cummings, Elizabeth Bishop, Pablo Neruda, Langston Hughes, Dante Alighieri, Dylan Thomas, Kim Addonizio, Suji Kwock Kim, Adrienne Rich, Emily Dickinson, Baron Wormser, William Blake, Andrew Marvell, John Milton, Joachim du Bellay, Robert Bly, Richard Wilbur, and of course (fanfare plays) William Shakespeare
"The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised."
George F. Will
Here's the best explanation I can come up with: Monty Python's Flying Circus parallels my life perfectly. Comedy by nature is hilarious, everyone's having a great (random) time, there's laughing and dancing and singing and spontaneity - but what it comes down to is that its all planned and founded in reality. The same can be said of me and my work.
"I'm the world's least happy atheist. I miss having religious faith, but trying to have it seems like trying to be in love with someone that you're not in love with."
Lisa Williams, Learning the Lessons of Nixon, 03-29-08
If I had a little tin cup to stand by the side of the road and beg with, all I would want (instead of spare change and sandwiches, although a sandwich sounds good) would be comments on my work!
"You can make those promises with just as much passion the second time around. Such is the regenerative power of the human heart."
Marion Wink, O Magazine, 2003
